The title race is fascinating the entire soccer world, with tension on the island like it hasn’t been for a long time. On Thursday evening, Man City travel to Brighton. Find out in our Brighton – Man City betting tip whether City can secure a must-win against the Seagulls or whether Brighton manage to take something from this clash.
Pep Guardiola’s team are under pressure as the runners-up to the leading duo of Arsenal London and Liverpool and need a win. The dress rehearsal for this match was a success, as the Skyblues recently celebrated their entry into the FA Cup final with a narrow 1-0 win over Chelsea at the weekend.
Brighton only managed a draw against Burnley FC last weekend, leaving them stuck in mid-table. The relegation places are a safe distance away, but there is probably nothing more to be gained in terms of international business either

Brighton Form & Balance Check
Brighton & Hove Albion can’t really be happy with their results in recent weeks. The 1-1 draw against relegation candidates Burnley was the 4th game in a row without a win, even though it included opponents such as Arsenal and Liverpool. Nevertheless, head coach Roberto De Zerbi would have liked at least one win from the games against Burnley and Brentfort.
As it stands, the Seagulls are tenth in the Premier League with 44 points. It’s no man’s land in the table, as they are 19 points clear of the relegation zone and 14 points off the final international qualification spot.
National players under the radar
Germany’s Pascal Groß is still flying under the radar for many. Nevertheless, his chances of playing in this summer’s European Championship are good. He was also in the DFB squad during the most recent international break and was given just under half an hour of playing time by coach Julian Nagelsmann against the Netherlands.
The reason for his nomination is a strong season in which he is the best provider of assists in his team and the second-best in the entire league. In addition to his ten assists, he has also scored four goals and is one of the most important building blocks in Brighton’s offense. He also wants to upset big City with his team on Thursday
Brighton facts & analysis
- Tenth place in the table
- Last game draw
- Winless in four games
Man City Form & Balance Check
Man City are currently locked in a fierce three-way battle with Arsenal and Liverpool for the title. Last week, they suffered a bitter defeat in the Champions League against Real Madrid in a match that should never have been lost according to the statistics. In the end, it came down to a penalty shoot-out in which City lost out.
Now the fans are demanding a defiant reaction, as two titles are still possible with the championship and FA Cup. The Skyblues have won their last three league games and, with 73 points, are just one point behind Arsenal and the Reds. They will have to do their homework and also hope that the other two slip up.
Haaland in a slight slump and questionable
Top striker Erling Haaland had to miss last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea through injury. Due to health problems, his participation against Brighton is also still questionable. The Citizens’ superstar has been in a bit of a goal drought of late, scoring just one goal from play in his last seven games.
Norway’s two international matches against Slovakia and the Czech Republic are two more games without a goal for the 23-year-old. Man City will be hoping for a speedy recovery and more goals from their top scorer in the title race. Personally, the Norwegian, who is level with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer in the battle for the top scorer’s crown with 20 goals, also wants to collect this trophy.
Man City facts & analysis
- Third place in the table
- Last game won
- Unbeaten in 17 league games
Brighton are expected to play a 4-3-3 formation. The German big man organizes the midfield. Full-back Pervis Estupiñán is missing due to an ankle injury and will be replaced by Igor. The attack around Joao Pedro, Danny Welbeck and Simon Adingra remains unchanged. Adam Lallana is available from the bench for the center.
Man City will play with a 4-2-3-1 system. Coach Guardiola could make a few changes compared to the game against Chelsea. Due to the switch to a back four, we expect Rúben Diaz back in the back line alongside Manuel Akanji. In central midfield, Mateo Kovačić could move into the first eleven for Rodri. Should Haaland not be fit in time, Jack Grealish and Jérémy Doku are options for the offense
