FC Everton – Liverpool FC
The title race on the island is probably the most exciting in years and the trio of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City are engaged in a fierce three-way battle for the English crown. Six games from matchday 29 will be made up during the week. Everton FC will host the Reds from Liverpool on Wednesday evening. Find out who will win this game and which bets are interesting in our Everton – Liverpool betting tip.
Everton are still struggling with the points deduction due to financial irregularities and are once again appealing against two points that were deducted on April 8. The Toffees lost a total of eight points as a result and must fear for relegation. Last weekend saw a 2-0 win against fellow rivals Nottingham Forest, which eased the mood somewhat.
Liverpool FC finally managed a three-pointer on the last matchday and are level on points with league leaders Arsenal. A win against Everton is a must to keep coach Jürgen Klopp’s hopes of saying goodbye with a title alive

Everton Form & Balance Check
As mentioned, Everton are in a relegation battle due to the points deduction. The Toffees are currently on 30 points, should the final ruling on the two points still outstanding become legally binding. This leaves coach Sean Dyche’s team in 16th place in the table and just five points above the relegation places. As there is no relegation on the island, 18th to 20th place would mean direct relegation. Everton have picked up a solid seven points from their last five games, but still have to face Arsenal FC as well as Liverpool. The Toffees still need to pick up a few points to stay in the top flight in the end
No consistency
One problem with coach Dyche’s team is undoubtedly their lack of consistency. This has been a recurring theme throughout the season, with the Toffees putting in disastrous performances alongside strong games. For example, the team scored against strong teams such as Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa, but also dropped points against Sheffield Wednesday, Luton Town and Bournemouth. On the penultimate matchday, they were also beaten 6-0 by Chelsea. The team must now get their act together for the final spurt in order to stay in the Premier League in the end
Everton facts & analysis

- Two wins from the last three games
Liverpool Form & Balance Check
The Reds are desperate to win the title for Klopp, but have often squandered points in recent weeks. The most recent success against Fulham was finally a three-pointer in the league after a draw and a defeat. The starting position is clear: Liverpool need five good games to finish top and are reliant on the Londoners stumbling. The second-placed Reds are currently level on 74 points with Arsenal, who are top of the table thanks to an eight-goal goal difference.
Although the Reds won their Europa League match against Bergamo last week, they were unable to overturn the 3-0 deficit from the first leg. The focus is now 100% on the league
Jota back in the starting eleven and scores
After more than ten games out injured, Diogo Jota finally returned to the Reds’ squad three weeks ago. At the weekend, the Portuguese attacker made his first appearance from the start after only coming on as a substitute in the previous three games in order to build up slowly. The 27-year-old finally scored again in his first appearance and gave new impetus to Liverpool’s previously somewhat stumbling attack. Despite the long break, Jota already has ten goals for the season and could become the X-factor for his team in the remaining games
Liverpool facts & analysis
- Place two in the table
- Won last two competitive matches
- Only one win from the last three games in the league
We expect Everton FC to field a similar line-up to their recent success against Nottingham. Central defenders Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski have performed well of late. Should manager Dyche want to make a change at striker, Portuguese Beto is available as an option for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has not been convincing of late.
Liverpool will play in a 4-3-3 formation. In central defense, Ibrahima Konaté could once again start alongside Virgil Van Dijk. In attack, we expect Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah to return to the starting line-up. Darwin Núñez is also pushing for a starting role, but will probably come on as a wild card again
