Bayern Munich – Union Berlin
The Bundesliga kicked off the second half of the season last weekend. But this week sees a brief return to the first half of the season. This is because the catch-up match of matchday 13 will take place in Munich on Wednesday. The record champions will then face off against the Ironmen at the Allianz Arena. You can find out who will secure the last three points of the first half of the season in our Bayern – Union betting tip.
It will be the third home game in a row for Munich. However, there was a bitter disappointment for FCB at the weekend. Bayern conceded a surprising 1-0 defeat against Werder Bremen and lost further ground on league leaders Leverkusen.
The Iron team, on the other hand, had the weekend off. The away game at Mainz 05 was canceled due to snowfall, just like the original game against Bayern in December. The Köpenickers now want to collect three important points against Bayern in the relegation battle and further distance themselves from the relegation places.

Bayern Form & Balance Check
For once, Bayern did not spend the winter at the top of the Bundesliga table this season. Despite a first half of the season in which Munich lost just one game in the league, FCB were unable to overtake the leaders from Leverkusen. However, the record champions then opened the year with a commanding 3-0 win against TSG Hoffenheim.
Last Sunday, however, Munich suffered an unexpected setback. In their home match against Bremen, Bayern lacked effectiveness in front of goal and ultimately suffered a 1-0 defeat. Munich are now seven points behind Bayer 04 in the table, which is why three points in the clash with Union are of fundamental importance
Tuchel with a question mark
FC Bayern’s management caused displeasure among some supporters in pre-season when they released Julian Nagelsmann and brought in Thomas Tuchel as the new coach. Under the direction of the former BVB coach, Bayern eventually won the championship, but failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the DFB Cup.
Bayern’s form has certainly improved so far this season, however. But the defeat against Bremen raises new question marks. Looking at the points average, it is also noticeable that Thomas Tuchel is still slipping somewhat at the moment. So far, FCB have scored 2.11 points per game under the 50-year-old. Under Nagelsmann, the Munich side scored 2.31 points. The last Bayern coach to have a lower points average was Louis van Gaal

Union Form & Balance Check
This season, it sometimes seems as if the soccer gods have conspired against the Irons. In the first half of the season, FCU fell into a real downward spiral and slipped into the basement of the table. However, after a small upturn in form before the turn of the year, Union spent the winter above the bottom line. And the start to the new year was also solid with a 0-0 draw in Freiburg.
However, not only the soccer gods, but also the weather gods seem to have something against the Köpenickers this season. After the match against FC Bayern, originally scheduled for early December, was canceled due to snowfall, the same thing happened with the basement clash at Mainz 05 the previous week
Vogt with a record?
Leonardo Bonucci’s brief spell at FCU came to an end in the winter. The Italian European champion departed for Fenerbahce in the Süper Lig, with Union turning to a league rival as a replacement. Kevin Vogt moved from Kraichgau to the Wuhle. The experienced player has already made his debut for the Iron in Freiburg.
The winter newcomer would also provide a curiosity if he played at the Allianz Arena. The 32-year-old would make his second appearance of the season on matchday 13. At the beginning of December, he lost 2-1 with Hoffenheim in Mönchengladbach. Vogt can still play 35 games in 34 matchdays this season

Predicted line-up – last update on January 24, 2024
Bayern will probably start with a 4-2-3-1 again. Noussair Mazraoui and Min-jae Kim are still missing due to their international trips. We also think that Thomas Müller will return to the starting line-up.
For Union, we are again assuming a back three. After Mikkel Kaufmann was recently given a chance in the front line, we expect Kevin Behrens to start again on Wednesday. New signing Chris Bedia will probably sit on the bench for the time being. Aïssa Laïdouni is still at the Africa Cup
