FC Augsburg – Eintracht Frankfurt
The Bundesliga continues to progress and the 13th matchday is already on the program for the teams this weekend. The matchday concludes with the game between Augsburg and Frankfurt on Sunday evening. The two teams are separated by just four points and important points are at stake for both. Augsburg want to leave the relegation battle behind them as early as possible this season so that they can start looking upwards and see what else might be possible. Find out who wins and who loses in this match in our Augsburg – Frankfurt betting tip.
With a win, they could lift themselves slightly above mediocrity and even get within striking distance of the international places. While coach Jess Thorup’s team were able to use the week to prepare for the game in the best possible way, Frankfurt still had to play in the UEFA Conference League during the week.
With the defeat against PAOK, Frankfurt missed out on taking the top spot in the table. Nevertheless, Eintracht are still in the Conference League, but will have to take the detour via the knockout round play-offs from February 15. Now it’s time to quickly put the game behind them and focus on everyday league life again, as the Bundesliga clubs still have plenty to do before the winter break.

Augsburg Form & Balance Check
FC Augsburg are currently in 10th place in the league table. Their record after twelve games is three wins, five draws and four defeats. Most recently, there have been three draws in a row and FCA have picked up nine points in their last five games. The result is therefore quite positive and definitely an upward trend compared to the sleepy start to the season.
FCA have been particularly effective in attack, scoring eleven goals in their last five matches, including high-scoring games against Heidenheim and Wolfsburg. A win against Frankfurt would extend their unbeaten streak and could put FCA within striking distance of the international places.
Fearful opponent Frankfurt
Augsburg have a rather poor record against Frankfurt in recent matches. FCA have not won in seven games and have suffered four defeats in the process. The last win was over four years ago. Frankfurt could therefore be described as Augsburg’s little fear opponent. However, the positive trend of recent weeks certainly gives Augsburg hope of finally beating the Hessians again in this match
Augsburg facts & analysis
- Tenth place in the table
- Goal ratio of 21:24
- Unbeaten in five games
Frankfurt Form & Balance Check
Eintracht are currently in a bit of a slump. Thursday’s 2:1 defeat against PAOK in the Conference League was the second competitive defeat in a row. This means that there has only been one win, one draw and two defeats from the last four games. Frankfurt are seventh in the league, just two points behind Hoffenheim in sixth place. The battle for the international places is in full swing and Frankfurt could do with a three-pointer this weekend.
The disappointment at missing out on winning their group in the Conference League is certainly great, but it is now time to put the game behind them and concentrate on the tasks ahead. Eintracht’s remaining program is a tough one, with league games against Bayern, Leverkusen and Gladbach before Christmas in addition to the cup match against Bayern shockers Saarbrücken
Key player Skhiri injured
The defensive midfield position is slowly thinning out in the Eintracht squad. Unfortunately for Frankfurt, Ellyes Skhiri was injured in the game against PAOK. According to the Hessians, Skhiri suffered a thigh injury and will be out until further notice. With the midfield strategist, Frankfurt have lost a lot of their passing and ball security.
In addition, Skhiri also exudes goal threat and has already scored two goals in twelve games for Frankfurt. With captain Sebastian Roder also still out, coach Dino Toppmöller will probably have to improvise a little. For Eintracht, veteran Makato Hasebe or Kristijan Jakic could take over the six-man position
Frankfurt facts & analysis
- Seventh place in the table
- Goal ratio of 18:13
- Last Bundesliga match lost 2:1
Predicted line-up – last update on December 2, 2023
We expect Augsburg to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Coach Thorup has a large squad to choose from. The coach will probably rely on Ruben Vargas and Phillip Tietz up front. Fredrik Jensen returns to the squad, but will probably sit on the bench for the time being.
Frankfurt will play in a 3-4-2-1 system. We expect veteran Hasebe to replace the injured Skhiri in the six. Mario Götze would also be an option for the starting eleven, but could also come off the bench as a wild card
