Formula 1 is on the road this weekend at the Marina Bay Circuit. The Singapore Grand Prix is one of the highlights for many drivers. In 2008, the first night race of the premier class was held there.
At that time, however, it was more the Renault team’s crash gate that caused a stir. Red Bull has won every race so far, with the Dutchman alone winning ten in a row – a Formula 1 record!
In Singapore, however, Red Bull had a hard time. Neither of the two drivers made it into Q3, Verstappen is now considered the outsider? Which bet is worthwhile for the race, I reveal in my Formula 1 Singapore GP tip.
A great drama played out in the first night race of Formula 1 2008. Nelson Piquet Jr. was instructed to maneuver his Renault into the banking to help his teammate Fernando Alonso to victory.
The plan worked, with the Spaniard winning the debut on the street circuit. The result should have been annulled, but wasn’t, causing controversy even today.
Finally, without the race classification of the Singapore GP, Felipe Massa would now be the 2008 World Champion and not Lewis Hamilton, who would again have a title less than Michael Schumacher if it had been annulled.
The Briton will not have another one this year. He is 200 points behind Max Verstappen, who has won every race except the Azerbaijani and Saudi Arabian GPs.
Only in Baku was the Dutchman thwarted by his teammate Sergio Perez. In Jeddah, he was stopped by technology in qualifying, which is why he had to start from significantly further back.
At the Marina Bay Street Circuit it starts from eleventh place, was still lucky not to have received a grid penalty for equal obstruction offense. Red Bull lacks the grip, in addition, the drivability when braking and shifting was on strike.
Will the high-flyers be able to solve the problem? The fact is that Red Bull is still a notch stronger in race trim than in qualifying. However, it’s unclear how far ahead it will go.
However, a place in the points should always be in it for Verstappen and Perez. Bet365 offers a 1.50 for the RB drivers starting from eleven and twelve.
Pole position has once again been secured by Sainz. Even though Ferrari has been strong in the Southeast Asian state in previous years, the pace is quite surprising.
After all, Ferrari mainly performed on the faster circuits. Singapore is by no means one of them, despite the redesign of the circuit. But the Scuderia has confirmed that the red goddess has been developed in the right direction.
Therefore, pole setter Sainz (2.75) also goes into the race as a slight race favorite. However, bettors expect a very close battle. Ferrari has the better pace than Mercedes, but stumbles a bit more with the tires.
That’s what the longrun comparison of the teams showed. And then a Lando Norris is also mixing it up at the front. The traditional British team McLaren should by no means be underestimated.
Especially since, despite the weak Red Bull days on Friday and Saturday, a Verstappen of eleven should never be written off. If, as in every race, the Red Bull works better than in qualifying, he can also be expected to win.
I would therefore prefer to stay away from the race winner market. But don’t worry, the betting providers have even much better and much safer odds. Among others, there are a few treats in the duel bets from Bwin.
The 1.85 odds for a duel win for Pierre Gasly against Nico Hülkenberg is a very good bet. The Haas traditionally does well in qualifying. The team gets the tires into the perfect working window quickly, can drive good single laps with them.
But the Achilles heel is tire wear, and that’s likely to set the team back again in Singapore. The team is unlikely to manage a single stop and a second stop costs more time in Singapore than at any other track.

While overtaking is quite difficult, Haas will have trouble accelerating out with the tire issues and will gradually be passed.
Gasly should definitely be among the beneficiaries. He achieved the significantly better lap times in the long run and tire management is also much better at the French team.
It’s only a matter of laps before he catches Hülkenberg. Therefore, the 1.85 for Gasly is a clear recommendation.
An equally hot tip is the duel success of Oscar Piastri against Alexander Albon. The Australian missed out on a better qualifying position due to Lance Stroll’s violent crash and will have to start from the back.
Albon will start the race just a few places ahead of him. Norris has shown what is in the McLaren and it is one of the strongest cars this weekend. The situation is completely different for Albon’s Williams.
His Williams is especially strong on high-speed tracks. He has to hope that he can use his top speed to keep his rivals behind him. With a sophisticated strategy, however, it should be easy for Piastri (1.67) to see the checkered flag in front of him.
Conclusion: Finally, Formula 1 fans can once again look forward to an exciting race that probably won’t be won by Red Bull. It would be the first victory by another racing team this season!
But it’s hard to predict who will end up on the top step of the podium. Instead, I’m going clear with the Gasly versus Hülkenberg duel bet, strong 1.85 odds in my eyes.
