Manchester City – Manchester United
Next week Manchester City will face Inter Milan in the final of the Champions League. But already this Saturday, the Skyblues have an important final match coming up. In the final of the English FA Cup, the team of coach Pep Guardiola will meet local rivals Manchester United. For the Citizens it is the chance to win their second title this season after winning the Premier League. City have failed to win their last two competitive matches, but Pep Guardiola’s side fielded a B team in those games as the championship was already a foregone conclusion.
For Manchester United, it is also a chance to win their second title of the season. At the end of February, the Red Devils won the EFL Cup with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United. Meanwhile, United finished third in the league and qualified for the top flight again after a year’s absence.
And in keeping with the season’s climax, Man United’s form is also reaching its peak. The team of coach Erik ten Hag won the last four league games and accordingly goes into the FA Cup final on Saturday with a lot of self-confidence. Man City form & balance check
At the moment it seems as if Manchester City are the absolute supremacy in European football. Even though coach Pep Guardiola’s team trailed Arsenal in the league for a long time, they eventually secured the Premier League championship in commanding fashion. In the meantime, the Skyblues won twelve games in a row in the league.
And City have not shown any weakness in the Champions League either. After eliminating the two teams from the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich, in the round of 16 and quarter-finals respectively, Real Madrid also stood no chance in the semi-finals. Man City are now just two wins away from winning the treble this season.
Haaland in goal mood
Erling Haaland broke all records in his first Premier League season. The Norwegian played a total of 35 games for the Citizens and scored an outstanding 36 goals. He surpassed the previous Premier League record of 34 goals, held until recently by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.
In two of the last three games, however, the former Dortmund player played little or not at all. However, this was more due to the fact that coach Pep Guardiola also wanted to give some players from the second row a chance and he spares his stars for the important games. Against Man United, Haaland will certainly be back in the starting eleven and will be looking to score his fourth goal in the current competition.

Coach Erik ten Hag brought Manchester United back to their former strength and catapulted the team back to the top of the Premier League. This season, the team already secured the EFL Cup, their first title since 2017, and defeated both Barcelona and Betis Sevilla in the Europa League. However, the Red Devils’ journey ended in the quarter-finals against eventual winners Sevilla FC.
In the league, United finally reached the Champions League qualification again. The team from Stratford eventually finished third in the league and had a seven-point lead over fifth-placed Liverpool. The Red Devils won their last four games of the season in a row.
Like to play at Wembley Stadium
Since the Wembley Stadium in London was completely renovated, Man United have had a strong record there. With a total of 29 goals scored at the “new” national stadium since their first visit in 2007, the Red Devils have averaged 1.26 goals per game. On Saturday afternoon, they will hope to increase that goal tally further.
In total, United have played 23 games at the converted Wembley. 15 of those duels were won by the Red Devils and only eight games were lost. United also won the two Wembley matches this season. In both the EFL Cup final against Newcastle and the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton, the Red Devils remained on the winning side.

Predicted line-up – last update on 1 June 2023
Pep Guardiola most recently established a system with a three-man backline and two genuine sixes. John Stones shone as a central midfielder alongside Rodri. Erling Haaland, who has been spared recently, will play from the start again. Stefan Ortega has played every game in the FA Cup so far and will probably be in goal again on Saturday.
Man United, on the other hand, are more likely to play in a classic 4-2-3-1. We expect Casemiro and Eriksen together in central midfield. Anthony Martial will again play up front. Martínez, Sabitzer and van de Beek are missing for the Red Devils due to injury.
