FC Augsburg vs. Eintracht Frankfurt
On the 13th matchday of the Bundesliga, the duel of the two most combative teams in the Bundesliga is set to take place at the WWK Arena in Augsburg. FCA (2,465) and Eintracht (2,440) have fought a combined total of almost 5,000 duels in the first twelve match days and will once again be putting everything on the line on Saturday in order to return home with three points. Our Augsburg vs. Frankfurt betting tips will tell you who we think has the better chances.
The visitors from Frankfurt will undoubtedly travel to Augsburg with a big smile on their faces. With a 2-1 away win at Sporting Lisbon last Tuesday evening, the Eagles booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League. After the sensational Europa League triumph last season, this is the next big milestone in the club history of the SGE.
However, there will be no big celebrations for the time being. “The boys don’t know it yet, but there will be no celebration today. We’ll have a toast, but then it’s off to bed. We’ll see it through to Mainz,” said Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner, remaining his usual professional self. Augsburg will probably not be happy to hear these sentences.

Augsburg Form & Balance Check
After previously winning three games in a row, FC Augsburg have been brought back down to earth in recent weeks. For the first time this season, the Fuggerstädter remained winless in five consecutive games (2U, 3N). In addition to the cup defeat against FC Bayern (2:5), there were two draws against Wolfsburg (1:1) and Leipzig (3:3) as well as two defeats in Cologne (2:3) and at VfB Stuttgart (1:2).
Late goals conceded cost many points
A closer look at the individual matches reveals that FCA has been more unlucky than lucky lately. In the close away defeats, Augsburg conceded the decisive goals for defeat only in the 81st and 91st minute. In their last home match against RB Leipzig, Augsburg squandered a 3-0 lead while still shorthanded (yellow card for Iago in the 65th minute). If the whistle had gone ten minutes earlier in all these games, FCA would not be winless in four games, but unbeaten in seven!
Augsburg facts & analysis
– 14 points from 12 games
– Last lost 1:2 in Stuttgart
– Conceded a total of 4 goals in the final quarter of the last 3 games
Frankfurt form & balance check
From group winners to bottom of the table, any position was still possible for Eintracht Frankfurt on the last matchday of the Champions League. In the end, they finished second after a 2-1 win at Sporting Lisbon, and the jubilation was boundless. At the break, things did not look too good for the German Bundesliga team. A goal by Arthur Gomes had Oliver Glasner’s team trailing, but then came the turnaround. Daichi Kamada scored a penalty to equalise (62nd), and shortly afterwards Randal Kolo Muani (72nd) secured the win.
Kolo Muani and Kamada in the spotlight
It is not only in the Champions League that the two scorers have made a positive appearance recently. Kolo Muani set up a goal in each of his past four Bundesliga games, Daichi Kamada scored his seventh goal of the season on the last Bundesliga matchday – in his previous four seasons, the Japanese player scored a maximum of five times.
In Augsburg, the Eagles are desperate to add to their tally this weekend and, statistically speaking, things are looking pretty good. Frankfurt have not lost any of their last five meetings with Augsburg (3 wins, 2 draws) and have not conceded a goal on four occasions. Oliver Glasner is even unbeaten against Augsburg in the Bundesliga (2S, 4U). In addition, Eintracht have won three of their past four Bundesliga away games and have picked up as many points in their five away games as they have in their seven home games (10 each).
Frankfurt facts & analysis
– 20 points from 12 games
– Last lost 1:2 against Dortmund
– None of the last 5 duels with Augsburg lost
Predicted line-up – last update on 3 November 2022
FCA will have to do without two suspended players at the same time. The two defensive regular sixes Carlos Gruezo and Elvis Rexhbecaj are both yellow-suspended. Ruben Vargas had to leave the pitch after 25 minutes in the clash with VfB Stuttgart. The attacking player suffered a mid-foot injury that is still causing him some problems. Should he miss out, Frederik Jensen is likely to start on the wing. Regular keeper Rafael Gikiewicz will most likely return to goal.
The SGE will still have to do without Makoto Hasebe, Christopher Lenz and Aurelio Buta. The starting eleven is more or less set in stone, only on the left side the decision between Ansgar Knauff and Luca Pellegrini is relatively open.
