Chelsea FC vs. West Ham United
In the Premier League it comes to the duel of two false starters this weekend. Chelsea FC and West Ham United are running behind expectations after five matchdays and have to catch up quickly in order not to slip even further. Nevertheless, this match naturally pits two London rivals against each other and should provide us with an attractive encounter. Kick-off is at 16:00 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, our prediction for the game can be found in the following Chelsea vs West Ham tip.
The Blues have collected just seven points from their first five games and are in ninth place. However, so early in the season the Champions League places are currently only three points away, so there is no reason to panic yet. West Ham, on the other hand, have just four points from five games, leaving the Hammers in 14th place at the moment, but a win at Chelsea could see them draw level with their city rivals.

Chelsea Form & Balance Check
Chelsea FC can almost be called a false start at the moment. The Blues have hardly found their feet so far and are still far too inconsistent. The narrow opening win against Everton was followed by an acceptable 2:2 in the top match against Tottenham – so far, so good. But then Leeds, who only narrowly avoided relegation last year, dealt the Londoners their first massive setback. Chelsea lost 3-0 at Elland Road and the first criticism was voiced. The capital city side did redeem themselves in the meantime with a 2-1 win over Leicester, but were forced to drop three points again during the week.
Southampton turn the game around
Chelsea conceded their second defeat in five games in their clash with Southampton FC. The game started well for the Blues, with new signing Raheem Sterling rewarding his team for a good opening phase with the lead after 23 minutes. But after Lavia had equalised for the Saints shortly afterwards, Armstrong turned the game completely just before the break. In the second half, the Londoners were lucky in several situations not to concede another goal. In the end, it was another disappointing result for the Blues with a 2-1 defeat.
Chelsea facts & analysis

– Last lost 1:2 against Southampton
– Only 2 wins from first 5 games
West Ham form & balance check
The Hammers have started significantly worse than their upcoming opponents. After the first three league games, one had to be really worried about West Ham, so disastrous were the results of the Londoners. Zero points, zero goals and last place in the table were the result of an absolute false start. But the Londoners did not give up. Spurred on by their successful qualification for the Conference League, they managed their first win in the league last weekend.
Kehrer with own goal against Tottenham
In the clash with Aston Villa, Pablo Fornals’ golden goal gave the Hammers a 1-0 win and their first three points. In the week, it went to the difficult derby against Tottenham. Spurs looked to continue their strong start against West Ham and got off to a good start, with a German international coming into focus when they scored the opening goal. Hammers newcomer Thilo Kehrer was unfortunate to hit into his own net. The hosts came back, however, and equalised through Soucek to move to two games unbeaten
West Ham facts & analysis
– 14th in the Premier League, 4 points from 5 games.
– Last played 1:1 against Tottenham
– Only scored 2 goals in the season
Predicted line-up – last updated on 1 September 2022
In addition to the recently suspended Gallagher, Thomas Tuchel is also likely to welcome back the stricken James and Chalobah against West Ham. Kovacic and Ziyech are other alternatives for the starting eleven in the usual 3-4-3. At the other end, David Moyes recently reverted to a back four against Spurs. In the 4-2-3-1, the newcomers Emerson, Lucas Paqueta and Cornet are alternative options. Scamacca and Johnson, however, were absent during the week.
