Chelsea FC vs. Leicester City
In the Premier League, Chelsea suffered the next heavy setback. After conceding Kane’s 2-2 equaliser in the last home game in the London derby against Tottenham only in injury time, the Blues delivered a desolate performance at Leeds last weekend. Chelsea lost the duel at Elland Road with 0:3. Four points from the first three games are not the standard at Stamford Bridge. In the upcoming home match against winless Leicester City, the Londoners have the chance to salvage their start to the season.
Leicester City, on the other hand, cannot save their start to the season with a win at Chelsea either. The Foxes started the new season with only one point and lost twice in a row recently. After the opening game ended in a 2-2 draw against Brentford, coach Brendan Rodgers’ team lost at Arsenal and last week at home against Southampton. To see if the Foxes will suffer a third straight defeat in London on Saturday, read our Chelsea – Leicester betting tip.

Chelsea Form & Balance Check
It’s not just Manchester United or Liverpool FC who are struggling at the start of the season. No, Chelsea FC cannot be satisfied either. After the Blues started the new season with a 1-0 win at Everton FC, two winless games in a row followed. In the last home game, Chelsea gave away a late victory over Tottenham Hotspur, in which the Blues conceded the 2:2 late in injury time. There was no reaction to this disappointment. Leeds United took advantage of individual mistakes in last Saturday’s clash and shot down the Blues 3-0. Chelsea have now gone two games without a win and have taken just four points from three games.
Defensive shakiness
The Blues have conceded a total of five goals in their last two matches alone. While Chelsea have managed to compensate for the departure of Rudiger with the signing of Koulibaly, given their recent statistics it is no surprise that the Londoners are still on the lookout for more defensive reinforcements. Only seven of the 19 other teams in the Premier League have conceded five goals or more. Last season, the Blues conceded only 33 goals in 38 games. If Chelsea continue to concede an average of 1.7 goals, the Londoners will finish this season with 64.6 goals conceded.
Chelsea facts & analysis
– Chelsea are 12th in the table with 4 points.
– The Blues last lost with 0:3 against Leeds United.
– Last home game ended 2-2 draw against Tottenham.
Leicester Form & Balance Check
There’s not much wrong with Leicester City if only the offense is considered. In the first game at home against Brentford, the Foxes led 2-0, but Coach Rodgers’ team let the lead slip away and it was only enough for a draw. At the Emirates at Arsenal, the Foxes’ defence also played with two left feet. After 55 minutes of play it was already 3:1 for the Gunners. Nevertheless, Leicester scored two goals again. Last week, a similar pattern was seen against Southampton. In the 54th minute Maddison scored the goal to make it 1-0. But again Leicester gave away the lead. This time, however, completely. Adams scored in both the 68th and 84th minutes to plunge Leicester into disaster.
More goals in the 2nd half
As analysed earlier, the Foxes’ strengths so far lie exclusively in their attack. This one seems to be able to show a particular pattern. So far, Leicester have scored a total of five times in three games. But only one goal was scored by the Foxes in the 1st half. Only the 1:0 in the first game against Brentford was scored in the first 45 minutes. Thus, Leicester scored their last four goals exclusively between the 46th and 90th minute. In addition, Maddison scored the last two goals for the Foxes.
Leicester facts & analysis
– Leicester are 19th in the table with one point.
– The Foxes have not won any of their three games so far this season.
– Most recently, Leicester lost twice in a row (2:4 & 1:2).
Predicted line-up – last update on 25 August 2022
Thomas Tuchel has solved the striker problem so far with a forward duo of Sterling and Havertz. That the Blues could indeed do with a striker was evident in the recent 3-0 defeat at Leeds. Substitutes Pulisic and Ziyech are also not players for the opponent’s penalty area. That Tuchel will change his 3-5-2 system against Leicester is nevertheless unlikely.
Leicester City will play in a 4-1-4-1 formation. Coach Brendan Rodgers sees that within his team there is a big imbalance between the offensive and the defensive. The Foxes have so far lacked penetrating power in attack, whereas the defence is more than vulnerable. On top of that, Leicester still haven’t reacted to the departure of goalkeeper Schmeichel and continue to play with substitute goalkeeper Ward.
