BBL Finale 2022, Game 1 on Friday, 10.06.2022
The final of the BBL is like last year: Alba Berlin against Bayern Munich! I am relatively sure that the Munich team can be prevented from a successful revenge!
The Albatrosses are even better placed than in the last final rendez-vous! Furthermore, I will also outline the respective tournament course in my Alba Berlin Bayern tip, which should probably dispel the last doubts about a successful title defence of the capitals.
Alba Berlin could put the finishing touches to an extremely successful defence of the BBL throne in this final series! Indeed, this has been in the offing from the start, as no one has been anywhere near as dominant as the capital club this season!
The Albatrosses have the best regular-season record (27-8). But not only that: With a positive point difference of +466, most of these victories belong to the category “Kantersieg”!
For comparison: The finalists from Munich were the best club in the league in this category after the Berliners, but have a value of “only” +265! This first impression alone makes it clear how dominant the Albatrosses are becoming so far!
But not only the course during the regular season favours the Berliners – also in the playoffs it went like clockwork for the blue and yellow so far! The Albatrosse paved their way into the final with two crisp 3:0 victories!
Bamberg were the first to fall victim to the blue-yellow tornado and would have preferred to spare themselves their three short play-off appearances with 89:114, 85:97 and 70:103 due to the blatant superiority of their opponents.
Ludwigsburg, on the other hand, managed to keep at least two of their three games exciting with 84:89, 76:100 and 67:73! But especially at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, the Giants went down without a sound with a difference of 24 points.
The dreaded basketball temple of the capital city will now host the guest from Munich on Friday for the opener of this final series! But I personally wouldn’t necessarily trust in a surprise!
Especially since the Bavarians have just won 3:2 after games against Bonn and thus have already had to play a few extra games that the Berliners have been spared.
The Munich team is historically a fearful opponent of the Albatrosses – especially since they are clearly ahead in the direct comparison. Nevertheless, the Berliners are even better than last year, when they won the finals series relatively easily!
The Berliners have strengthened themselves compared to last year with some important new additions, who have now advanced to key players. In this context, Jaleen Smith and the Israeli international Yovel Zoosman must definitely be mentioned.
In this new composition, the Berliners are now stronger than ever! Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the league duel against the Munich team less than a month ago was already won with 83:78.
New signing from Ludwigsburg, Jaleen Smith, was the architect of the success over FCB on that occasion with 24 points and I think he will also play a key role on Friday.
But I am not the only one who predicts a clear success for the home side! Because even the top bookmakers, with their average odds of around 1.50 on the Albatrosses, seem to be sure that there will be no surprise!
By the way: Since their elimination from the Euroleague, the Albatrosses have now won sixteen BBL games in a row!
Conclusion: What a story it would be if Munich could deprive the Albatrosses of their just reward in the home stretch after such a dominant season.
After all, the Capitals have won each of their last 16 competitive games and finished the regular season with a massive +466 point differential.
Moreover, thanks to new additions like Jaleen Smith and Yovel Zoosman, the capitals are even better than in the last BBL final, when they were able to defeat Bayern as well!
