French Open Tips today – Matches today from 03.06.

Day 13 at the 2022 French Open is all about the semi-finals. Friday includes two matches that could not be more exciting and high-class. Three players were expected to be so far ahead, one not at all.

From a German point of view, it is of course especially nice that we can welcome Alexander Zverev in the round of the best four. The Olympic champion has finally done it and beaten a top 10 player for the first time at a Grand Slam!

He would have to repeat exactly this feat on Friday, needing a win against the record champion from Paris. The schedule then gives us a second semi-final that hardly anyone expected.

Casper Ruud has been one of the favourites at Grand Slams for years, but only now is he showing all his skills. While there are three semi-finalists from the top 10, Ruud’s opponent is not one of them: Marin Cilic is playing the tournament of his life and could be THE surprise of Paris!

French Open tips today – 03.06.2022 Day 13 preview

There are only two matches left on the schedule for today, Friday. When Alexander Zverev and Rafael Nadal meet, the bookmakers have clearly declared themselves in favour of the Spaniard.

But Zverev has put Carlos Alcaraz in his place and has also won three of the last four duels against Nadal. Of course, the fact that he virtually cannot lose at Roland Garros speaks in the veteran’s favour.

Surprise man Marin Cilic is looking for a big coup after his victories over Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev. Besides the “Big Four”, he is the only player who has now reached a semi-final in all Grand Slams.

However, with Casper Ruud, who is also the favourite of the betting companies, he has an opponent in front of him who comes through the fight and likes to win the long matches in particular.

And that is until the second semi-final is over sometime in the evening. Livestreams from Roland Garros are available on DAZN and Eurspsport Player.

French Open tips today 03.06.: Rafael Nadal – Alexander Zverev (14:45 Uhr)

Rafael Nadal has reached a semi-final at the French Open for the 15th time in his glorious career. No question, that record is unmatched and could be forever. Now he is aiming for his 22nd title at a Grand Slam.

Nobody knows exactly how the damaged foot is doing from day to day. In the round of 16, Nadal did not seem fit at all and needed five sets in his match against Felix Auger-Aliassime. But he hit back all the stronger in the quarter-finals.

Novak Djokovic, until then in top form without losing a set, was his opponent. Nadal shone, securing a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6. Now he is playing Alexander Zverev for the tenth time, leading 6-3 in the H2H.

A few days ago, the Olympic champion overcame a curse that had lasted for years and won for the first time on the big stage against a player ranked in the top 10. He beat none other than Carlos Alcaraz.

The 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 showed an intense back and forth, Zverev delivered the best performance so far in 2022. Still without a title, he is looking to reach the final on Friday for the second time since the Australian Open 2020.

A year ago, both he and Rafael Nadal were knocked out in the semi-finals at Roland Garros. Zverev lost in five sets to Stefanos Tsitsipas, Nadal was beaten in four sets by Novak Djokovic.

In the end, will it depend on how fit the record champion of Paris will be? He had lost to Zverev three times in a row before winning the most recent match again. In any case, the odds read relatively clear at 1.30 to 3.85.

Our expert tip: Zverev to win the set

French Open tips today 03.06: Casper Ruud – Marin Cilic (17:35)

As the world No. 8, Casper Ruud, already a specialist on clay, naturally had to be on the cards for the French Open title. For the first time, the Norwegian also manages to keep his nerves under control at a Grand Slam.

In the 1st round against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, he was already facing elimination, but won narrowly. Against Lorenzo Sonego, too, he had to tremble for a long time and go into five sets. At the end of the day, a win against Emil Ruusuvuori was the only smooth success.

Ruud could be forgiven, because he beat Hubert Hurkacz and the strong youngster Holger Rune, who had previously sent Stefanos Tsitsipas home, in the last two rounds.

Ruud has already won two duels against his opponent Marin Cilic, but the most important one is yet to come. The Croatian is the big surprise in the French capital, never before has he been so strong on clay.

After first humiliating Daniil Medvedev 6-2, 6-3, 6-2, he went on to win against Andrey Rublev. After five sets including match tiebreak, Cilic rejoiced, hitting an incredible 33 aces.

At 1.98 metres, he is superior to Ruud in terms of serve, and he also only gave up two breaks against Medvedev and Rublev in total. He has already reached a Grand Slam final twice, so he is superior to his opponent here. He will be able to get over the fact that he is trailing with an average of 2.90 to 1.45.
