Tennis Tips Today – Matches Today 29.04.
One tournament already finds its winner on Sunday, the other lasts a week longer and is just getting started. There is a lot on offer for tennis fans a few days before the French Open.
On Friday, the tournaments in Munich and Madrid are on the agenda, among others. While the BMW Open is one of the smaller competitions, the ladies in Madrid are on a much bigger stage.
Unfortunately, from a German point of view, we can no longer observe many participants, but this does not detract from the excitement thanks to numerous world stars. Friday holds intense matches in store, in which it is difficult to name favourites.
In Munich, we have already reached the quarter-finals, but in the women’s tournament in the Spanish capital we are still at the beginning. Nevertheless, some of the top players have already faced tough competition here at the beginning.
Tennis Tips Today – 29.04.2022 Preview
A year ago Nikolos Bassilashvili snatched the title at the BMW Open, and the Georgian seems to love the Munich clay in 2022 as well. Now, however, he is sent onto the court as the underdog and has to hold his own against Miomir Kecmanovic.
German fans would have loved to see Alexander Zverev in his place, but Holger Rune, only 18, gave the Olympic champion no chance. Now he goes straight into the match against Emil Ruusuvuori as the favourite.
While Angelique Kerber has cancelled her participation in Madrid, Andrea Petkovic wants to pull the coals out of the fire. After surviving the qualifying round, she will face Leylah Fernandez in the main draw.
Young Emma Raducanu wants to show in the Spanish capital that her victory at the US Open 2021 was by no means just a one-hit wonder. She expects a win against Tereza Martincova, but her role as favourite is chosen rather cautiously.
Anastasija Pavlyuchenkova wants to finally serve again without complaints after her long injury break. What she recently failed to achieve in her home country should work much better in her 1st round against Sara Sorribes Tormo.
Tennis tips today broadcast: Where will the matches be played on 29.04?
In Munich, the tournament has reached the hot phase. For the TV broadcast, this means that almost every match will be shown. On Sky Sport, the matches on Centre Court make it into the programme, the BR stream shows a selected match per day. One quarter-final and one semi-final, including the final, will be broadcast directly by BR. If you want to watch the women’s matches in Madrid, you need an account with Tennis Channel or WTA TV.
Tennis tips today 29.04.: Miomir Kecmanovic vs Nikolos Bassilaschwili (11:00 a.m.)
The German tennis fans in Munich had actually hoped that “their” players would go far, but that doesn’t quite work out. But one player who has obviously found his favourite tournament in the BMW Open is thrilling.
Nikolos Bassilashvili was in the main draw for the first time last year, beat Casper Ruud among others and finally won the final against Jan-Lennard Struff. Now he has made a strong comeback in beating Ilya Ivashka 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 and will be looking to win the quarter-finals as well.
Miomir Kecmanovic, however, is favoured in this match, with average odds of 1.30 to 3.40. The Serb has easily eliminated the two Germans Max Rehberg and Daniel Altmaier, giving up only eleven games in the process.
So his streak continues, he is in the quarter-finals for the sixth time in a row. With one thing in common: he has never made it into the top four. Will he now achieve this feat in his first duel with Nikolos Bassilashvili?
Our Expert Tip: Over 19.5 Games
Tennis tips today 29.04: Holger Rune – Emil Ruusuvuori (12:30pm)
Alongside Carlos Alcaraz, he is currently regarded as the biggest prodigy on the tennis circuit: Dane Holger Rune! He showed in the round of 16 against Alexander Zverev that it should not remain at the current 70th place in the world rankings.
He played phenomenally at 6-3, 6-2 and gave the world number 3 no chance. Before that, he had already won 7-6, 6-3 against Jiri Lehecka. He only allowed one break against Zverev and did not commit a single double fault.
This performance has probably also led to the bookmakers putting him in the role of favourite for the duel against Emil Ruusuvuori with odds of 1.50 to 2.70, as the two have not yet met.
The Finn has sold himself very well in Munich so far. First he won 7-6, 7-5 against Yoshihito Nishioka, then he managed a smooth 6-3, 6-3 against Maxime Cressy. Ruusuvuori has already been strong in the last few weeks and also posed problems for Jannik Sinner and Alexander Bublik.
Our expert tip: Win Rune
Tennis tips today 29.04: Leylah Fernandez – Andrea Petkovic (16:00)
Last September, Leylah Fernandez suddenly found herself in the final of the US Open, losing to Emma Raducanu. Since then, however, the 19-year-old has struggled somewhat, with no competition to speak of in her only tournament win in 2022.
In both Miami and Charleston, she was eliminated in the first round, which also happened to her at the Australian Open. For her first appearance in the Madrid main draw, bettors are appropriately cautious, her Round 1 win would carry a 1.45.
While Fernandez is still one of the youngsters at 19, Andrea Petkovic, 34, brings much more experience to the table. With victories over Misaki Doi and Kaja Juvan, she successfully fought her way through the qualifiers without losing a set.
Petkovic has not made it to a 2nd round in Madrid since 2015. She has only cleared the opening hurdle twice this year anyway, and was also absent due to injury. More than the underdog role is therefore not possible on Friday.
Our expert tip: 2:0 Fernandez
Tennis tips today 29.04: Emma Raducanu – Tereza Martincova (15:30)
Is Emma Raducanu really going to become a world-class player who establishes herself among the top stars in the long term? Since her sensational victory at the 2021 US Open, she has not been able to build on the performances she showed there.
She barely made it to the quarter-finals in Stuttgart, but did not face strong opponents in Storm Sanders and Tamara Korpatsch. In the end, Iga Swiatek taught her a lesson with her 6-4, 6-4. Emma Raducanu from New York certainly wasn’t that yet.
With odds of 1.50 to 2.50, she is indeed favoured in the duel with Tereza Martincova, but not too clearly. The Czech won only one match in the last three tournaments, narrowly losing her match in the Billie Jean Cup a few weeks ago 5-7, 5-7.
Martincova has never competed in Madrid. She has failed to attract attention in recent months with wins against opponents ranked in the world’s top 20.
Our Expert Tip: Over 20.5 Games
Tennis tips today 29.04: Sara Sorribes Tormo – Anastasija Pavlyuchenkova (14:30)
Sara Sorribes Tormo has a home draw in Madrid, but it hasn’t done her much good in recent years. Twice she has made it past the first hurdle here, and now in 2022 she should succeed a third time. 1.50 to 2.50, the betting companies believe in her.
A few days ago in Istanbul, Sorribes Tormo won the doubles title, but was eliminated early in the singles competition. She has not really been able to convince this year, with a maximum of two victories. In Madrid, she will compete again with the double burden of singles and doubles.
Anastasija Pavlyuchenkova is therefore listed as an outsider, which might have something to do with her recent break. The 30-year-old contested the Australian Open, after which she spent time in rehab and on training courts.
She returns to the big stage in Madrid, where she made her debut 13 years ago. Last year she cut a good figure, only losing to Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals. In the direct duel with Sorribe’s Tormo she leads 3:1, beat her last time at the Olympic Games.
Our expert tip: Over 2.5 sets
