Liverpool FC vs. Manchester United
This Tuesday evening there is a Premier League clash between Liverpool FC and the Red Devils. Here, no less than the two most successful English teams in history meet in a direct duel. Liverpool FC have 19 league titles, which can only be surpassed on the island by their upcoming opponents Manchester United. United are the English record champions with 20 titles. Currently, the Reds from Liverpool are at least one size bigger and whether the team of coach Jürgen Klopp can live up to the role of favourites, you can read in our Liverpool – Man United tip.
If we look at the Premier League table before this matchday, we can still look forward to a great duel for the title between Liverpool and Manchester City. The Reds are still one point behind City and LFC should not afford a defeat in the classic against United. The Red Devils, on the other hand, are still fighting to qualify for the Champions League. They currently sit in fifth place with 54 points.

Liverpool Form & Balance Check
The Reds from Liverpool are once again playing an outstanding season. With 73 points after 31 matchdays, coach Jürgen Klopp’s eleven would be well on their way to the championship in any other league in Europe. In the Premier League, however, the 2020 champions have to contend with Manchester City. They are currently one point behind the Sky Blues and yet Jürgen Klopp & Co. have not lost faith in their 20th title. If we take a closer look at the last few weeks, we can see how strongly the Reds are currently performing. They have won a staggering ten of their last eleven PL games.
Anfield is a fortress
If the title does come in the end, LFC’s home strength would play a big part in it. Liverpool FC are the strongest team in the Premier League at home. From the 15 home games so far, there have been twelve wins and only three draws. Also impressive is the fact that Liverpool have only conceded seven goals in those 15 home games. The Reds will go into the game against United with a broad chest. Last weekend was the semi-final against Man City in the FA Cup. After a furious first half, Liverpool narrowly won 3:2 in the end. Now Chelsea FC await in the final.
Liverpool facts & analysis
– 2nd place in the Premier League, 73 points
– Last win 3:2 in the FA Cup against City
– Best home team in the Premier League (12 wins, 3 draws)
Man United Form & Balance Check
Manchester United are once again playing a very poor season. The English record champions are again not living up to their expectations and whether it will be enough to qualify for the Champions League in the end remains to be seen. They are currently three points behind Spurs in London. At least they won the last game against Norwich, who were bottom of the league, 3:2. Man of the day was once again oldie Cristiano Ronaldo. With the 60th hat-trick of his career, the Portuguese almost single-handedly ensured victory. It remains to be seen whether he will also play against Liverpool. Due to a stroke of fate in his private life, it is more than doubtful whether he will play against Liverpool.
United want revenge for the first leg
The Red Devils will have to have an absolute cream day against Liverpool FC, otherwise they could end up with a repeat of the 5-0 defeat in the first leg. Coach Ole Solskajer’s side were completely out of their depth then. United could not only inflict Liverpool FC’s first home defeat with a win at Anfield, but also take a big step towards CL qualification. If we take a closer look at United’s form, however, there is not much to suggest that the Red Devils will win. United have only managed two meagre victories from their last nine games.
Man United facts & analysis
– 5th place in the Premier League, 54 points.
– Last win with 3:2 against Norwich
– Only 2 wins from last 9 games
Predicted line-up – last update on 19 April 2022
The Reds from Liverpool will again be sent out on the pitch in their usual 4-3-3. Coach Jürgen Klopp has to manage his players’ strength a little bit at the moment, because the Reds are still dancing on four high tides. In defence, Matip is likely to replace Konate alongside Van Dijk. Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago form the midfield three. In attack, there will be Mane, Salah and Jota.
For the upcoming opponents from Manchester, coach Ralf Rangnick might have to rebuild a little. Lindelöf will form the duo in central defence alongside Maguire. Bruno Fernandes was recently involved in a car accident, so it is not yet clear whether the Portuguese will start. The same applies to his compatriot Ronaldo, whose participation is more than questionable due to the reasons already mentioned.
