The clash between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Brooklyn Nets truly represents a treat for any basketball aesthete! Especially for those who enjoy a lot of baskets.
And indeed, there should be plenty of them tonight. Not only because, according to my Grizzlies Nets tip, two “offensive teams” will square off, but also because the outstanding Kyrie Irving may be in the mix.
These are appreciative words that are quite justified and speak from the soul of every NBA fan. Nets legend Kevin Durant recently let himself be carried away by the remark that Morant is a future Hall of Famer.
And indeed, the youngster’s accomplishments speak for themselves! Not for nothing is he considered by far the hottest candidate to win the “MIP Award”. That is, the player who has developed the most this season.
With an average of 27.6 points per game, Morant always gives his team a good helping hand. Meanwhile, Memphis has even moved into second place in the Western Conference with a record of 49-23, right behind the Suns.
The Grizzlies are a team that is not used to such highs, but the many talents that have been nurtured over the last few years seem to have developed magnificently in the meantime! Especially moving forward, Memphis is simply outstanding.
According to the official statistics page of the NBA, there are only four teams in the league that can beat the average point output of the young “Grizzly Bears”. This, by the way, is a respectable (114.7).
Another reason why I think tonight’s game could get out of hand, points-wise, has to do with the fact that both franchises have a strong offence, but don’t have a comparably good defence.
It is already well known that the Grizzlies allow a little too much in the back. But the fact that the Nets have also shown these weaknesses of late has led me to no longer consider them a real title contender.
After all, since the departure of James Harden, the New Yorkers have not been able to hold an opposing team below the 100-point mark! Nevertheless, Brooklyn has won six of its last seven NBA games.
However, this has largely to do with the fact that Kevin Durant is finally back and unstoppable going forward. Ultimately, thanks to Durantula, the Nets are simply scoring more points than they are allowing at the back right now.
These particular ingredients make this game a powder keg for me, which is bound to result in a high-scoring game – especially if Jo Morant returns to fitness for tonight.
The huge talent was still in the stands for last night’s win over the Rockets as a precaution, but should be given the green light again against Brooklyn. With regard to a possible winner, however, I am not making a Grizzlies Nets prediction.
In the last meeting at the beginning of January, Memphis won by a relatively comfortable 118 to 104. However, caution is advised, because in away games of the New Yorkers – such as the upcoming one – vaccination refuser Kyrie Irving is allowed to play.
In terms of a classic 1X2 bet, our readers can expect Grizzlies Nets odds at the leading sportsbook providers, according to which the visitors are the favourites.
Accordingly, odds of around 1.67 are offered for a success of the Nets, while it is around 2.23 for a triumph of the league runner-up, which betting enthusiasts are confronted with on average on the markets.
Summary: Both teams impress with their outstanding offence, especially the Grizzlies. Incidentally, at the beginning of the season nobody would have seriously thought that last season’s eighth-placed team would experience such a flight of fancy.
Jo Morant’s commitment is not 100% certain, but even without him, his team is very dangerous. The last direct duel against the Black and Whites was even won with a 14-point difference.
However, Kyrie Irving was not allowed into the Barclays Arena at that time. Outside of New York, however, he is allowed to play. Therefore, everyone who has seen the point guard’s recent fantastic performances knows that there could be a lot of three-pointers tonight.
