Hertha BSC vs. Eintracht Frankfurt

Crisis summit in the capital! On the upcoming 25th matchday of the Bundesliga, Berlin’s Olympiastadion will be the venue for a clash between two clubs who have failed to pick up a single point in their last three games. The match between Hertha BSC and SG Eintracht Frankfurt will kick off on Saturday afternoon at 3.30 pm.

After seven games without a win, the air in the relegation battle is getting thinner for Hertha BSC. After FC Augsburg’s point win against Borussia Dortmund, the Alte Dame even slipped to the relegation spot for the first time after last weekend. The Berliners are undoubtedly facing decisive weeks. Eintracht will probably have nothing more to do with the fight to stay in the relegation zone, but they have also gambled away their good starting position for reaching international business due to the disappointing last few weeks.

In our Hertha vs. Frankfurt betting tips, you can find out who we would trust to win after three defeats in a row and what other predictions we would make for this crisis duel.

Hertha Form & Balance Check

There is simply no improvement in sight at Hertha BSC, the capital club that is now severely threatened with relegation. Even though the performance last weekend in Freiburg was even okay for long stretches, in the end there was once again a 3:0 defeat, which is a bit too high overall, but still doesn’t bring in any points. Already in the 12th minute, Sport-Club took a 1:0 lead through a penalty kick. Afterwards, the visitors did not play so badly, but failed again and again because of the stable defence of the Breisgau team. With the 2:0 in the 83rd minute, Kevin Schade finally put the lid on the game in the final phase of the match.

Still no win in the new year

After the 1:6 against Leipzig and the 1:2 defeat in Fürth, it was the third disappointing defeat in a row. For the first time in 16 years, Hertha BSC are still winless (2 draws, 5 defeats) after the first seven second-round matches in the Bundesliga and last in the second-round table. Since matchday 18, the Old Lady has also been the weakest defensive team in the Bundesliga, conceding 19 goals. In the last two games alone, they have scored nine times in the capital’s box.

The only glimmer of hope for the upcoming home game should be the good statistics against Eintracht Frankfurt. Hertha BSC have not celebrated more victories against any club in Bundesliga history than against the SGE (30, as against HSV). The Berliners also scored against no other team in their Bundesliga history as many goals as against Eintracht (116). In addition, they won the first leg away from home with 2:1. To date, it is the last away win for the Old Lady.

Hertha facts & analysis

 – 23 points from 24 games
 – Last lost 0:3 at Freiburg
 – Winless in 7 games
 – Lost 3 of last 4 home games

Frankfurt form & balance check

The visitors from Frankfurt will also be anything but satisfied with the way the second half of the season has gone so far. Only upcoming opponents Hertha BSC and VfB Stuttgart have picked up fewer points since the turn of the year (2) than the SGE (4). The Eagles’ only win in 2022 came on matchday 21 away in Stuttgart (3:2). Since then, Eintracht have lost three in a row without scoring a single goal – the last time such a series happened to them was almost five years ago.

Where has the home strength gone?

The disappointing home games were primarily responsible for the miserable results in recent weeks. SGE has been defeated four times in front of its home crowd. Away from home, on the other hand, things still look quite respectable. Before the bitter 0:1 defeat in Cologne, the SGE won 3:2 in Stuttgart. Before that, there was a 1-1 draw in Augsburg and a 3-2 win at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Therefore, the chances are not at all bad that the Eagles will also take something countable from Berlin this coming weekend.

Frankfurt facts & analysis

 – 31 points from 24 games
 – Last lost 0:1 against Bayern
 – Only 1 win from last 7 matches
 – No goal scored in 3 games

Predicted line-up – last updated 3 Mar 2022

For the Berliners, Boyata and Kempf are likely to start together in central defence for the first time. On the right wing we expect Richter, but Ekkelenkamp or Maolida could also play. Ascacibar would be another option in the centre. Keeper Jarstein (knee) and newcomer Nsona (cruciate ligament tear) are still out. Dardai is in rehabilitation training.

The only question for Eintracht is whether da Costa or Chandler will play on the right. We have decided on the first option. Apart from that, things should turn out as we expect. Missing are Lenz (yellow ban), Rode (abdominal muscle injury) and Ramaj (meniscus injury).

Hertha – Frankfurt direct comparison & Statistics

The direct comparison goes with 33 to 23 wins and 18 draws to the Old Lady from Berlin, who also won the first leg with 1:2. Before that, Eintracht won 3 times in a row (3:1, 3:1, 4:1). The Eagles have also won 3 of the last 4 guest games at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
