Juventus Turin vs. FC Torino
The 26th matchday of the Serie A is just around the corner and at the Juventus Stadium in Turin it comes to the derby between the record champion Juventus Turin and FC Torino already on Friday evening. The match will kick off at 20:45.
In the last few years, the smaller club from the city of 900,000 inhabitants has rarely been able to hold off its city rival. Turin FC’s last derby victory came in April 2015 with a 2-1 win, and since then, apart from three draws, only the Old Lady has come out on top. Our Juventus vs. Torino tip will tell you whether we expect the same on Friday and what we think about this match.

Juventus -Turin Tip
The starting situation is clear. Juventus are favourites as always in the city derby and want to close the gap to the top of the table with a win. They are currently nine points behind leaders AC Milan. The visitors from Turin are also playing a decent season in tenth place, but have recently suffered two defeats in a row. In the run-up to the match, therefore, almost everything points to a success for the favourites.
Juventus Form & Balance Check
After an extremely disappointing start to the season and only a meagre two points from their first four games, Juventus Torino initially looked strongly destined for a year in no-man’s land in the table. In the course of time, however, the Old Lady got its act together and has worked its way up to fourth place in the table to date. However, the top trio, consisting of the two Milan teams and SSC Napoli (55,54 and 53 points) is now quite a distance away. Therefore, Alvaro Morata & Co. are lucky that even fourth place in the table would still entitle them to participate in the UEFA Champions League.
Missed big points in the battle for the Champions League
However, this one is far from certain, as Atalanta Bergamo are breathing down the Old Lady’s neck with two points less and currently even have one game less to play. The direct duel with their closest rivals for the top flight ended in a 1-1 draw last weekend. In retrospect, Juventus can certainly live with the point, as the Italian record champions only equalised in the 90th minute. Otherwise, it would have been the first defeat since matchday 14 (0:1 vs. Atalanta) after ten league games without defeat.
Juventus Facts & Analysis
– 46 points from 25 games
– Last played 1-1 at Atalanta
– Unbeaten for 6 competitive matches
– None of the last 14 derbies against Torino lost
Turin form & balance check
After the visitors from Torino only just managed to stay in the league last season, the 2021/22 season has been surprisingly successful so far. With 32 points, Ivan Jurić’s side are tenth in the table after 24 games and – despite two defeats in a row – are still a comfortable eleven points clear of the relegation places. The Turin side will therefore not have to tremble to the bitter end this year, provided they do not completely collapse in the final spurt of the season.
Strong at home, but shockingly weak away from home
There’s no chance of that happening, though, as consistency is one factor that has distinguished FC Torino this season. The team around ex-Wolfsburg player Josip Brekalo has not been winless for more than four games in a row. Especially in their own stadium, FC Turin have been very consistent in picking up points. The 1:2 defeat against FC Venezia last weekend was only the third home defeat of the current season. Before that, only Atalanta Bergamo (1:2) and Juventus Turin (0:1) managed to take three points from the Olympic Stadium Turin. Away from home, the team’s performance was even more modest, with only eight points from eleven games. Only US Salernitana (8 points from 13 away games) is even more harmless in this respect.
Turin facts & analysis
– 32 points from 24 games
– Last lost 1:2 against Venezia
– Only 8 points from 11 away matches
– Scored only 6 goals in those 11 games
Predicted line-up – last update on 16 February 2022
Right-back Danilo, who scored the 1-1 against Atalanta in injury time, will be out due to his 5th yellow card. Juan Cuadrado should play in his place. Otherwise, Giorgio Chiellini and Federico Chiesa are still missing.
The visitors will be without Dennis Praet, Tommaso Pobega and Mohamed Fares. The starting eleven could nevertheless remain unchanged compared to the 1:2 against Venice.
